Brass wall bracket – hand-decorated – circa 1830–1850
An authentic antique brass object, made by hand, with traditional pierced decoration (the „poinçon” technique). The piece can be hung on a wall (it has a central fixing hole) but also stands on a flat surface. It probably comes from England or France, in the first half of the nineteenth century (circa 1830-1850).
The geometric and star-shaped ornaments are executed by hand using traditional metal-decorating techniques.
Dimensions: 22 × 10,5 × 7 cm
Material: brass
Condition: good for its age – with a fine patina, visible general wear and oxidation on the back, but no tears or losses.
Use: a rest for spoons, letters or small utensils, or purely decorative (an ethnographic / rustic collector's object).
A rare and authentic object of nineteenth-century European folk art.
